Anne of Green Gables: Sequel (also known as Anne of Avonlea) is a favorite of the 1985 TV miniatures on the basis of an iconic novel by LM Montgomery. Directed by Kevin Sullivan, this is a continuation with Anna Shirley (followed by Megan) now a young adult who has returned to Avonlea after school. It begins in a new chapter in life and navigating the local school’s teacher’s challenges, while still holding dreams and aspirations.

The film explores the journey of Annie’s self -development, personal growth, and her developing relationships, especially Gilbert Blit (Jonatan Cromby), with which she grows up for years. The charming, breathtaking environment of Prince Edward Island is beautifully depicted, with lush landscapes, and for timely appeal of Ann’s spirits. Series trademark themes hinder the importance of hope, perseverance, and love and friendship in this installment.

Megan once again follows Anna’s portrait, reflecting the character’s warmth, wisdom and boundless imagination. The series also presents new faces, adds wealth to the story, and tone light, engagement and heart full. The charming narrative is filled with moments of humorous, romance and reflection, making it a satisfactory extension for the original series fans.
